By 1965 the population of Scottsdale was 54,000. The solution to the problem did not come easy and there were numerous floods that caused major damage during this time. It was not until the early 1970's that the Indian Bend Wash project was finally approved and started. By 1974 the population of Scottsdale was 85,000 and as of 2010 the population was estimated to be approximately 217,000.
